This role provides an exciting opportunity to be part of Halton’s Early Years Education Department. It is being offered as a part time role, for two days a week which is Thursday and Friday, and will complement the existing work being carried out by the Early Years team around safeguarding.

Early Years Education builds the foundations for a child’s learning and development. In Halton, Early Years Education is a key priority for the region and demonstrates our commitment to provide high quality educational provision for our youngest children. As ‘Early Years Officer for Safeguarding and Welfare Requirements’ you will be responsible for ensuring Early Years provisions meet safeguarding and welfare requirements. You will work with School, PVI settings and childminders to provide challenge, support and advice regarding childcare provision in Halton to ensure that they meet the safeguarding and welfare requirements of the EYFS, ensuring children are kept safe.

 

As a successful candidate you will:

Have a working knowledge and understanding of the EYFS and children’s safeguarding and welfare requirements.

Have a knowledge and understanding of Halton’s safeguarding procedures;

Have experience of delivering safeguarding and welfare briefings, training, guidance, policy and procedure to the Early Years Workforce;

Have experience of impacting positively upon children’s safeguarding and welfare needs;

Have experience of vulnerable families and children;

Have the ability to challenge and support improvement in early years provisions, using a range of methods/tools to improve practice;

Be able to demonstrate good ICT skills, including Microsoft office and other computer applications

Have excellent communication, organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills

Be able to evidence the ability to forge strong working relationships with a broad range of stake holders, including Halton’s CYP Safeguarding Partnership;

Have experience of working with Statutory agencies.
