Organisational Development Graduate

Fixed Term Contract (2 years)

Knowsley Council is an award-winning Local Authority, named Local Authority of the Year in the MJ Awards 2024.  Come join us and be part of our future success!

We have a fantastic opportunity for a graduate who has recently qualified to join Knowsley Council to support the development of high impact work programmes and projects to improve staff recruitment and retention.

This exciting role will initially help support and strengthen our early careers programmes such as our graduates and apprenticeships offer. Utilising your understanding of Human Resources practices, innovative technology and creative ideas you will look at new ways to attract talent to the council, especially into hard to recruit roles.

You will also support the design and development of leadership programmes for aspiring and experienced leaders of all levels as well as playing a key role in supporting a wide range of occupationally focused talent development programmes.

You will have good project management, communication and IT skills and a passion and interest for Human Resources.

You will be a strong team player, with the ability to fulfil competing demands to deliver a great service. Building and maintaining relationships will come naturally to you and you will always look to co-design new and creative solutions to people-focused challenges.

At the heart of all you do will be a drive for quality, transformation and creating the best customer experience. You will also have good influencing skills and an interest in looking at new ways to attract and develop the best talent to our Knowsley workforce.

We are investing in our HR service and we have strong ambitions for the future. We focus on what will make the biggest impact to support our staff and help attract, develop and retain talent with relentless focus on doing things differently. This is a great opportunity to join a friendly, supportive team. You will be joining the team at an exciting time, as we are developing our first People Strategy and joining us will give you the opportunity to be creative and build on your existing skills, talents and experiences.

As an employer we like to thank our employees for their hard work and commitment by giving them the opportunity to access a range of rewards and benefits.

We promote applications from all sections of the community, regardless of background, belief, or identity, recognising the value that diversity brings to our organisation. We particularly welcome applications from individuals from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds and candidates with disabilities as we acknowledge their underrepresentation in our workforce.

At Knowsley Council we will consider requests for flexible working.  For most roles, the following types of flexibility are usually possible: flexible hours, working from home, compressed hours, part-time.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy earlier than the specified date should we receive sufficient applicants.

At Knowsley we value our applicants and want them to feel well-informed and welcomed. If you have any questions about this specific job role or what it is like to work at Knowsley, please contact Helen Baggaley (helen.baggaley@knowsley.gov.uk) or Nicky Shamsee (nicky.shamsee@knowsley.gov.uk)
