Halton Borough Council seek to appoint a Young People Case Workers to lead the development,  management and implementation of strategies of intervention for a case load of young people who are at risk of, or are not in education, employment or training, or whose activity is not known to the Council. The work is careers focused, with the intended outcome being that young people participate in education, employment or training following the advice and guidance you’ve supported them to access.

The cohort of young people are academic age 16 & 17 year olds, and those up to 25 year olds with an open Education, Health and Care Plan. Young People Case Workers also support some pupils in Year 11 who are at risk of not progressing into Post 16 education or training.

You will use your expertise and experience to assess the needs of individuals before determining the best intervention to progress each young person to. Based on your analysis you will make referrals to other services or agencies, who will be the ones working directly with the young person. There will be phone, email and messaging contact with young people and their families. Some home visits or attending meetings with young people will also be part of the work, but face to face contact will not be frequent. You will be speaking to other services and maintaining records more than you will be in contact with young people directly.

This role forms part of Halton Borough Council’s strategy to meet our statutory duties in relation to Raising the Participation Age and you will work as part of the 14-19 Team, contributing to the development, promotion, implementation and evaluation of the team’s work and taking a lead on areas of work that support the Team. This is an additional Young People Caseworker to support the team for a period of two years because of the increase in young people who are needing support.

You must have a Level 6 qualification in a relevant field of service or management and experience of managing an area of work within services to support young people.

Please ensure you provide evidence you meet every essential criteria in the person specification within your application form.

Please note we do have agile working arrangements; the current requirement within the Education, Inclusion and Provision Department is that you are based in the office or attending face to face meetings for at least 60% of the working week. This can change and you must be able to meet any changes to the agile working arrangements, including being office based for 100% of the week.

For an informal discussion about this post, please contact Mrs Háf Bell (14-19 Programme Leader) on 0151 511 7255

Interviews will be held during the week beginning 30th September 2024.
