About the role / service
The Senior School Quality Assurance Officers will provide effective strategic leadership to a specific group of schools and settings across Halton, ensuring the organisations meets their statutory responsibilities.
The role is an advocate for the improvement in outcomes for children and young people age 0-19 borough-wide, by championing the needs and rights of all children to receive a high quality educational provision – in particular those who are vulnerable or with complex needs, and ensuring that the voices of children and young people and their parents are heard and responded to.
The role is key to ensuring Children’s Services & Education delivers its commitments outlined within our Children and Young People’s Plan.
The post includes specific responsibility for the Local Authority’s statutory roles in relation to education, which will be guided by Government policy and legislation. This currently includes Early Years, Attendance, Behaviour, Schools Causing Concern, Statutory Assessment and transitions.
In Halton, we are proud of our positive relationships with all schools across the borough and our new Senior School Quality Assurance Officers will be integral to this, working closely with our maintained schools as well as our academies, independent schools and EY providers.
About you (the prospective candidate)
You will be a passionate, enthusiastic and driven education specialist, with experience as a successful headteacher or school senior leader (or current school improvement consultant, or equivalent).
You will know what good and outstanding practice looks like and have experience in supporting, advising and (where necessary) challenging school leaders to ensure the best outcomes for children. You will be confident in holding others to account and knowledgeable about the role of the Local Authority and our statutory duties in education in 2024 & beyond.
