The position is for 27 hours per week over 5 days (Monday-Friday)
An opportunity has arisen for a temporary (in the first instance) Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated and enthusiastic team. The Governors of St. Philip’s CE Primary warmly welcomes applications to join our happy, thriving, inclusive school.
We are seeking an energetic, skilled and caring practitioner to support children with additional learning needs. They will work closely with other professionals in Key Stage 1 and act on recommendations from external agencies such as SALT, OT, EP and the Autism Support Team. This position is fixed term until August 2025 (in the first instance) and is linked to SEND funding.

- Have confidence in supporting children on a 1:1 or small group basis
- Be supportive of the inclusive Christian ethos of the school
- Experience of working with children with Special Educational Needs would be preferable
- Have a genuine desire to work with children
- Be enthusiastic, hard-working, with a sense of humour and patience of a saint
- Be flexible, adaptable and have a positive working attitude
- Be able to set high expectations for themselves and children
- Have a willingness to contribute positively to our happy team and become involved in the wider aspects of school life
- Be able to meet the demands of the KS1 curriculum
- Have excellent basic skills in English and Maths.
- Be a highly skilled communicator.
- Have a heart for children who need a lot of love
- Motivate and encourage the pupil(s) as required by providing levels of individual attention, reassurance and help with learning tasks as appropriate to pupils’ needs
- Liaise with class teacher, SENDCO and other professionals about the pupil profile and/or Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP), contributing to the planning and delivery as appropriate
- Be consistent and effective when implementing agreed behaviour management and social communication strategies
- Help to make appropriate resources to support the pupil
