The role: 

  • An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Commercial team at Liverpool City Council. We are looking for multiple professionally qualified and skilled individuals who are competent, confident and highly motivated to fill the post of Environmental Health Officer. You will work as part of a team of officers to deliver a range of activities which fulfil the Council’s statutory food safety and health and safety functions. This post puts you at the heart of a passionate and dynamic department which is critical in the delivery of the Council’s services
  • The role of Environmental Health Officer involves a wide range of regulatory functions, balancing proportionate risk-based enforcement interventions to our businesses. You will be carrying out food hygiene inspections, reactive and proactive health and safety enforcement, infectious disease controls, complaint investigations, sampling, and project work. You will have your own ward area to take responsibility for and have the opportunity to use the full range of your professional skills and knowledge to improve standards
  • The ideal candidate for the Environmental Health Officer role will have an accredited Environmental Health Degree (BSc or MSc or equivalent) and EHRB or CIEH registration. They will also have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, alongside an investigative and analytical approach to work and effective team working skills
