We have several opportunities to be a Youth Worker (Assisting) at Wirral Council.
We have one role supporting the New Horizons LGBTQ+ Youth Group, providing a safe, inclusive space for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer, and Questioning young people aged up to 19.
- Salary: JNC Assisting Range, Points 5 (Unqualified)
- Hours: 3 hours per week (flexible, including evenings/weekends)

About the Role:
Under the Team Leader’s guidance, you will deliver targeted youth work to LGBTQ+ young people, fostering trusting relationships, facilitating issue-based sessions (e.g., mental health, hate crime awareness), and supporting social action projects. You’ll co-produce programmes with young people, promote opportunities, and ensure safeguarding compliance.
About the Candidate:
Build positive relationships with young people. Plan and deliver outcome-focused group activities. Support early intervention for at-risk young people. Record project data and contribute to service development. Act as a role model and adhere to health and safety policies. Essential Criteria: Knowledge of face-to-face youth work with 11-19-year-olds. Understanding of safeguarding and equal opportunities. Strong communication and IT skills. Commitment to pursuing a Level 2 Certificate in Youth Work. Desirable Criteria: Experience working with young people. Familiarity with youth work practice recording. Knowledge of youth work curriculum development.
We also have 4 roles in our Detached Youth Work Team. This team are dedicated to empowering and supporting the youth of Wirral to navigate life's challenges and reach their full potential. We are seeking enthusiastic and committed Detached Youth Support Workers to join our team and make a lasting impact on the lives of young individuals in our community.

About the Role:
As a Detached Youth Support Worker, you will play a vital role in engaging with young people in their communities and places where they hang out. You will provide guidance, mentorship, and a listening ear to address the unique needs and concerns of young people.
About the Candidate:
You must have a passion for working with young people and a genuine desire to make a difference in their lives. You will be understanding of the pressures and challenges young people face today, with excellent communication skills and the ability to connect with young people from diverse backgrounds. You will be empathetic, have patience, and active listening skills to understand and address the concerns of young individuals. You will be required to work flexibility to accommodate evening and weekend work. Previous experience in youth work, community engagement, or a related field is advantageous but not essential.
