'Excellence Everyday'

'Learn, Live, Laugh and Love Ashurst'

Ashurst Primary School is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and creative SEMH Teacher to join our friendly and committed team, to work successfully with the children and build positive relationships towards learning and education; with the aim of steering them back into mainstream school when they are ready. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a supportive environment where professional development is encouraged, and every child is valued.

Staff and Governors are committed to ensuring excellence and high standards in unlocking each child's potential through a nurturing approach and caring environment. Every child is warmly welcomed into the 'Family of Ashurst' and is equally valued and challenged to achieve their best, as we work in collaboration with parents/carers to ensure success and achievement for all our children.

Are you a qualified teacher motivated to make a difference in children’s lives? Does working with young children with challenging behaviour as a result of social, emotional and mental health needs sound like a career for you? Can you find different and engaging ways to motivate and engage children who are not accessing mainstream education? Then, read on, as we may be able to help you start on a career that you may find rewarding and highly motivating.

Our school has an eight-place primary age SEMH Resource Provision. This specialised provision provides a more inclusive offer for pupils with an EHCP at primary age with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs in St Helens - giving them the opportunity, in time, to be educated alongside their peers as part of an inclusive environment.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a passion for teaching and learning
  • work with children with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and the resultant behavioural difficulties including self-regulation needs, in order to help them overcome the difficulties they are experiencing in their education.
  • raise standards of SEMH learners’ achievements using a range of teaching strategies, in line with the school’s policies and procedures.
  • Take responsibility for day-to-day operation of the provision made by the school with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs; and responsibility as the teacher of the SEMH Provision at Ashurst Primary School
  • Liaise effectively and in collaboration with the SENCO and Senior Leadership Team to set the ethos of the SEMH Provision, and work with other members of staff employed within the SEMH Provision to maintain high standards and consistency.
  • Hold high aspirations for all children and ensure that all learners needs are met in line with the statutory requirements of the National Curriculum, as appropriate, in ensuring a quality education for all within the provision.
  • Builds strong relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues
  • Is committed to high standards and achieving the best outcomes for all
  • Embraces creativity and innovation in the classroom
  • Works well as part of a team and contributes positively to school life
