Newly Qualified / Experienced Social Worker

Knowsley Council is an award-winning Local Authority, named Local Authority of the Year in the Municipal Journal Awards 2024. We are an accredited employer under the Liverpool City Region Fair Employment Charter, demonstrating that we are committed to the principle of fair employment and we are dedicated to providing a healthy, fair, inclusive and just workplace.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has rated Knowsley Council as good in how well we are meeting our responsibilities to ensure people have access to adult social care and support under the Care Act (2014).

Come join us and be part of our success.

We are looking for dedicated Social Workers to join our Teams across Adult Social Care.

  •  Are you passionate about social work?
  •  Do you have the skills and experience to deliver in a busy social work team?
  •  Do you enjoy helping others achieve their outcomes?
  •  If so, you may be the perfect candidate for this role!

As a Social Worker, you’ll play a vital role in supporting adults within our community. You’ll carry out comprehensive Social Care Needs Assessments, develop effective support plans, and coordinate services to meet individual needs. You’ll also manage risk effectively, including attending Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Meetings (MARAMs).

Your role will involve safeguarding vulnerable adults, application of Mental Capacity Act (MCA) principles to support decision-making, handling legal aspects related to the protection of adults through the Court of Protection (CoP), ensuring compliance with Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS), and utilising the Decision Support Tool (DST) for Continuing Healthcare (CHC) assessments.

This is a dynamic role that requires flexibility—you’ll work contracted hours within agreed rota patterns, which may include evenings and weekends.

Our busy social work teams are passionate about working with adults, carers and partner agencies to achieve the best outcomes for those with care and support needs and their carers.

You will need to hold a social work qualification and have a professional registration as a social worker with Social Work England.

At Knowsley Council we will consider requests for flexible working.  For most roles, the following types of flexibility are usually possible: flexible hours, working from home, compressed hours, part-time.

We promote applications from all sections of the community, regardless of background, belief, or identity, recognising the value that diversity brings to our organisation. We particularly welcome applications from individuals from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds and candidates with disabilities as we acknowledge their underrepresentation in our workforce.
