Development Management Manager

About the Role:

A new role has been created to support the Development Planning Manager in delivering and performance managing the wider development service.  The role will have direct managerial responsibility for heritage, urban design, technical support and principal officers in the delivery of major strategic development.  You will support the Development Planning Manager to ensure the service meets its statutory requirements and delivers a responsive, professional, effective and customer focused service.  A key element of the role will be to assist team leaders to embed a casework approach to facilitate proactive support to the officers throughout the service.

About the candidate:

We are looking for a tenacious self-starter with a passion for driving forward delivery of the service.  You will hold a relevant degree and have extensive up-to-date knowledge of current planning legislation and best practice in relation to all areas of the planning service and local government.  In addition to this you will demonstrate an understanding of current heritage and urban design policy and have experience of managing staff including demonstrable experience of managing performance and developing and motivating individuals.
