Trainee ICT Auditor

Our Internal Audit team has responsibility for making a valuable contribution in providing assurance on risk, governance, and control systems to Sefton Council We are delighted to be able to strengthen our team with a Trainee ICT Auditor role.
We are looking to recruit an outstanding individual to join our Internal Audit team in this role. The Trainee ICT Auditor vacancy offers the right person a fabulous opportunity to develop a wide range of professional skills, knowledge, and competencies in an ever-changing business critical function.
The successful candidate will have great written and verbal communication skills, a strong interest in ICT and be an inquisitive, analytical, and innovative thinker who can provide practical solutions to our clients. They will also need to be self-motivated and have an eye for detail. In addition, a high degree of ethical integrity and personal resilience is required in what will be a challenging and rewarding role.
The appointee will undertake professional ICT audit training with career graded progression through the pay scale dependent on examination success and performance in the role. Post-progression, you will have acquired the skills, knowledge, and experience to lead individual IT audits and. You will also support and train less experienced colleagues.
Key Duties and Responsibilities include:
- To assist with undertaking audits of departmental operations and management arrangements across a range of Council services, as identified in the approved Annual Audit Plan with a focus on ICT risks.
- Testing and evaluating controls within systems under the guidance from the Principal Auditor to assess whether they are adequate, or if modifications / improvements to processes are required.
- Basic financial analysis and review.
- Liaison with clients / customers, other local authority audit teams and the Council’s external auditors.
- Provision of a complete, efficient, and effective support service to the Internal Audit team.
- Support and input into corporate initiatives as directed by the Audit Manager / Principal Auditors.
- Teamwork and excellent client / customer relations.

What will you need
Pre-progression you will hold a degree (BA or BSc Honours) and have the ability and commitment to complete the CISA qualification.
Post-progression you will be CISA qualified and hold current membership of ISACA (Information Systems Audit and Control Association) and have substantial relevant IT Audit experience.
