About the Role: As a Missing From Home Intervention Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing support and advocacy for children and young people who have been reported missing. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Conducting Return Home Interviews: Engage with children and young people to understand the reasons behind their missing episodes and ensure their voices are heard.
- Influencing Care Planning: Record and analyze the factors impacting the child or young person to contribute to effective care planning.
- Providing Independent Advocacy: Advocate for the needs and rights of children during and after missing episodes.
- Collaborating with Partners: Work closely with social workers, police, and other agencies to ensure a coordinated response.
- Educating and Preventing: Advise young people on the dangers and risks associated with running away, aiming to prevent future incidents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage proactively with young people who run away.
- Maintain accurate records and monitor service activity.
- Ensure the needs of children and their families are met by service providers.
- Represent the service positively in various environments.
- Promote the use of Young Peoples Centres by other agencies and local partners.
What We’re Looking For:
- Qualifications: Level 3 Safeguarding/Designated Safeguard Lead Training or equivalent, and a good standard of general education including English and Maths at Level 2.
- Experience: Proven experience working with children and young people, particularly those at risk of Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) and those reluctant to engage.
- Skills: Ability to build positive relationships, produce high-standard written material, and engage and motivate young people.
- Knowledge: Understanding of the causes of youth crime, anti-social behavior, and other adverse outcomes for young people.
