The Governing Body of Norwood Primary School is looking to appoint an inspirational and enthusiastic Headteacher who has the vision to lead our amazing team and share our core values of Aspire, Respect and Enjoy.

About the school

We are an established forward-thinking, fully inclusive, vibrant three-form entry school with over six hundred pupils on roll. The school is situated in fantastic grounds in Southport (Merseyside), and we are extremely fortunate to have access to beautiful woodland which we utilise within the curriculum.

Whilst being a large school, we have a strong emphasis on creating a small school ‘feel.’   This has been enabled through structures and organisation which have created a calm and supportive environment for pupils and staff. Pupils are proud of the school, are happy and enjoy coming to school, statements supported in our last Ofsted inspection. Together with our parents and the wider community we have established a school which is caring, welcoming and encouraging.  Children thrive and every voice is listened to and respected.  We have high expectations of our pupils, and the school provides high quality teaching and learning.

Our pupils come from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds, with families joining us from countries such as Poland, Latvia, Turkey, and Romania.  These pupils settle quickly, and we take pride in nurturing confident, respectful, and resilient young people.

We are extremely proud of the achievements of all our children and the school community and our core values of Aspire, Respect and Enjoy are reflected in all aspects of school life.

The Role

As Headteacher, you will provide strategic direction, leadership and management for the school, driving excellence and innovation.  By working closely with the supportive and knowledgeable Governing Body, parents, and the wider community, you will ensure all our pupils succeed in achieving their full potential and maintain a culture where pupils experience a positive and enriching school life.

We can offer:

  • An opportunity to lead the school, raising attainment with all groups of children
  • A dedicated and supportive senior and middle leadership team.
  • A school that values teamwork & high achievement in all areas of our work with young people.
  • A valued mental health and well-being for staff and pupils
  • Governors who are able to provide a blend of support and challenge
  • Continued Professional Development to ensure your appointment is successful & rewarding

Due to the nature of work the above post is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and relevant care/safeguarding legislation and appointment will only be confirmed if a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure is obtained from the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS)

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. Please note that in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2022, an online search will be carried out as part of our due diligence on shortlisted candidates.
